Finance
The Finance Committee meets quarterly to review the investment strategy and performance for the church reserve funds, which are currently with Thrivent Financial for Lutherans. A representative from Thrivent Financial gives an overview of the fund activities and makes suggestions on future options. Also, the operating finances of the church are assessed, as reported by the church treasurer, comparing expenses and cash receipts to the current budget.
In the September/October timeframe, the committee meets to review the initial draft of the budget for the upcoming year. The initial draft is prepared by the church treasurer from input by various committees. After the review, with changes incorporated from the finance committee, the budget is submitted to the Congregation Council for their review and modifications. After Council review, the budget is presented to the members of St. Paul’s for approval in a November Congregational Meeting.
