Adult Choir
Senior ChoirSt. Paul’s has a small, but very active choir which sings every Sunday at the 10:30 AM service, and participates in special music throughout the year.
Special music includes performing two Sermons in Song during the year – where in lieu of a sermon, the choir sings 5-6 pieces relevant to the season. In addition, the choir joins a massed choir for Thanksgiving Eve service and for a yearly Lenten cantata. Special music is also provided during Lent services that are held at St. Paul’s, and at Christmas Eve and Easter services.
The choir rehearses for a little over an hour per week – one hour Thursday evening at 7:30, and a short rehearsal Sunday morning before service. Choir music is selected by the choir director, to match the season and/or lessons. Most of the choral music is sung in SAB (soprano-alto-bass) parts.
We are always looking for new choir members, and encourage you to consider this worthwhile and rewarding ministry. Knowing that many people cannot commit to this schedule, we are trying to find ways to get additional participation during the year. We plan to continue to offer a Spirit of the Moment choir, where several times a year, a familiar choral piece is selected, and anyone can join the choir by attending the 10:00AM rehearsal. We are also considering having a choir during the summer, where again, anyone interested in singing can join by attending the rehearsal before hand.
If you are interested in joining the choir, please speak to any of the choir members. No try-outs or auditions necessary!
